Where to Get Affordable Drug Rehab in Order to Beat Drug or Alcohol Addiction

I get this question at least once a week: “Where can I get affordable drug rehab treatment?”

There are a couple of possibilities for people out there and the key is that you sit down, be thorough about it, and explore all of your options.  If your attitude is simply “I cannot afford a treatment center so I may as well not even look” then you are not going to get the help you need.

First of all what I would do is to get your attitude straight before you seek help.  Make a decision right now.

Decide for yourself that you are going to get clean and sober no matter what, and that you absolutely will stop at nothing in order to get this.  Decide once and for all that you want a better life for yourself, and that you want to be happy again without drugs and alcohol in your life.

This is not outrageous for you to declare.  Simple make the decision, right now, that you are going to make recovery from addiction the single most important thing in your life.

There.  Now you are ready to find affordable drug treatment for yourself.

Start locally.  I always say this and I believe it is the best choice for most people.  It is always the cheapest choice as well in almost every case.  And sometimes it will even be completely free.  But start your search for recovery locally.

Obviously if you live on the east coast of the U.S. and you decide that you have to go to a luxury drug rehab on the California coast, you are going to run into problems in terms of money.  It is not going to be cheap.  Just getting there will cost quite a bit.

But here is the good news: if you really made the decision like I suggested earlier in this article, then you don’t need a luxury rehab to get clean and sober.  In fact, you don’t even need a decent one.  ANY rehab will be able to help you find a new life in recovery.  And you can make it work because you made such a strong commitment to yourself.

So you start your search locally.  Where is the closest drug rehab center to you right now?  Call them up or go there physically, not with the intention of checking in right now, or even today.  That is jumping the gun and you do not want to seem overly aggressive.  At this point you are being polite and asking questions.  Make sure you are being polite, and not demanding free treatment.  No, you are in a place of need and the best approach to get what you want is to humble yourself a bit.  The people working in the rehabs will go out of their way to find you help if you are polite, humble, and genuinely nice to deal with.

So that just leaves the questions.   I would start with these, and go from there:

“I am desperate to get clean and sober but I have no money and no insurance.  Can you point me in the right direction to get help?”

“I don’t have private insurance but I think I really need to get help for my addiction.  Can you suggest anything?”

“Is there any way for someone without insurance to attend your rehab facility?  If not, do you know of any other rehabs that can accomodate me?”

If you are polite, honest, and thorough in your questioning, it is almost certain that people will direct you to free resources that can help you with your addiction.  The key is to be thorough but also exceedingly polite. There are almost always a few ways out there to get help for those who truly seek it.
