He would also been very mean. I have been married for 32 years to man that slowly became an alcoholic. I put up with it because he was never mean and he supported his family. We raised three children together. But, recently he is out of work and he stays home and drinks every day. The children are out of the house and on their own. I see him slowly killing himself and I don't want to watch it anymore. I love him and he is a good person but I don't know what to do. Drinking has always been a part of his life and I have accepted it. How do I now say I will no longer put up with it. I don't know what I should do. I don't want to hurt him but I know I am not helping him.

My father was alcoholic. He would not drink for months and then drink for a week at a time.
