I think the best success for most people comes from long term rehab.  Unfortunately, most people don&#039;t have the means to get it.  If your fortunate enough to have insurance, the standard 28 day program just doesn&#039;t cut it.  In my opinion most addicts and alcoholics need 1 to 2 years of intense in house treatment at a reputable mental health clinic.  Many of those who have managed to succeed without rehab have practiced self denial in other areas of life.  When they realize they have to apply this behavior to their addiction they begin to recover quickly.  I&#039;m talking about people who have been engaged in high endurance occupations and activities.  They have developed skills which really take them across the finish line.
