Do I need rehabilitation?

This is the most important question that needs to be answered by every alcoholic. Denial of the problem and refusing to get help are the most commons sign of alcoholism. Most alcoholics live lives of denial and escapism. It is quite difficult for alcoholics to accept that their social habit has now become an addiction that affects everybody around them. Many of them are not aware that they are addicted, which can be overcome mainly by proper treatment. Some of them are aware of it but too embarrassed to admit it to others or are worried about the repercussions.

Spreading awareness about rehabilitation is every individual’s responsibility. Even if alcohol abuse does not affect you at the present moment, it is still important to help others struggling from addiction by urging them to seek treatment. If you find that you or a loved one has become a serious victim of alcohol abuse, you should get help straight away. In the case of a loved one struggling with alcohol addiction, you should talk to them about seeking help for their problem and even possibly seek assistance in intervention.

The best way to intervene is with proper assistance. You may feel that there is no need for formal assistance because intervention can be easily done by means of talking. There are professionals available who conduct organized intervention treatment to get a reluctant alcoholic to agree to the rehabilitation treatment.

Why is it important to go for assistance intervention?

Sometimes, casual intervention by family members and friends create resentment more than comfort.  Usually, intervention by loved ones is not taken very positively by the alcoholic and can result in bitterness in relationships. It is not as simple as it seems to get an alcoholic to agree to enter a rehabilitation treatment. The success rate of assistance intervention may not be hundred percent but it has still proven to be the most effective way of intervention in most cases to help individuals stop drinking and seek treatment.

Assistance intervention is conducted with a proper plan. An alcoholic’s friends and family members still play a major role even in assistance intervention.  Family and friends should be willing to give all the details to the therapist and help him or her make a proper strategy to convince the alcoholic to receive alcohol rehabilitation treatment.
