Hey Patrick, Lisa here. As always enjoyed reading your article. I was also recently looking up information on "comfort food" I also had a conversation with a girlfriend of mine about my "food addiction". It actually became more of an addiction after I had been dealing with chronic pain for awhile. I noticed I was drawn to more and more comfort food due to my pain disorder. She explained the opiod/gueten/comfort food connection. Started doing some googling and found a pretty good article about this. Hope you don't mind if I list it here. http://www.habitguide.com/blog/gluten#comment-1882
Due to my sobriety I didn't want pain meds so I was "self medicating" with food. ugh........ but good news found a homeopathic doctor who gave me a correct diagnosis and our focus is first going to be pain management with homeopathic rememdies. Seems a lot of my inflammation and pain are coming from viruses bacteria etc. I am very hopeful :-)
